3. Five Yards to Call (Best Fit First)

All five are within 13 miles of the Port of Long Beach. Drayage from POLB to any of them stays comparable to what we pay PHD today.

1 - CALL FIRST

Eight Star Logistics

(562) 216-9200
1645 Daisy Ave, Long Beach 90813
3 - 4 miles from POLB
Closest to port. Paved gated yard. Already markets handling uncrated machinery and watercraft, so floor-loaded tiny homes will not confuse them.
2

IMC Logistics, LA Terminal

(844) 903-4737
550 W Artesia Blvd, Compton 90220
~8 miles from POLB
National drayage leader with their own truck fleet. Could potentially bundle drayage + transload + storage and replace Bryan/Adrian if numbers work.
3

Empire CFS

(310) 885-9868
19600 S Alameda St, Rancho Dominguez 90221
~7 miles from POLB
Real CFS with high ramp, good for floor-loaded oversize cargo. Confirm whether they have outdoor yard storage.
4

CALKO Transport

(310) 816-0602 alt: (310) 638-6791
720 E Watson Center Rd, Carson 90745
6 - 8 miles from POLB
5+ acre yard, pure outdoor storage specialist. Cheapest for storage but may not devan, so use as a storage-only backup or pair with another yard.
5

Imperial CFS

(310) 768-8188 rates: rates@imperialcfs.net
1000 Francisco St, Torrance 90502
~13 miles from POLB
Farthest of the five. Adds roughly $90 in drayage round-trip vs Eight Star. 17.5 acre lot, 52 docks, ground-level ramps, 100k lb scale. Big shop, oversize-capable.

Order of operations

Lock Eight Star first. If their quote is unworkable, work down the list. Empire and Imperial are useful as competitive quotes to keep Eight Star and IMC honest.

4. What We Are Negotiating on Each Call

Open low, walk away clean if they will not move. The leverage is on our side because we are recurring volume in a competitive Long Beach market.

  • Transload (40 ft container): open at $750, walk away above $1,200. Compare to ATSI's $1,450 base.
  • Storage: ask for 14 free storage days included with each transload, then $10 per day after day 14. Compare to ATSI's flat $975 - $1,750 per month.
  • Volume discount: 10 to 15 percent off storage in exchange for committing 1 to 4 containers per month for 6 to 12 months in writing.
  • Equipment confirmation: at least 15,000 lb forklift capacity, ground-level access or extendable ramp, paved or compacted aggregate yard, gated and lit overnight.
  • Insurance: $250,000+ cargo coverage per occurrence, $1M general liability, certificate of insurance on file before first container.
At $10 per day after the 14 free days, a unit sitting 30 days only runs $160 in storage cost (16 paid days x $10) versus ATSI's $1,750 monthly flat rate. That gap is where the savings come from.

5. What We Save If We Hit These Numbers

Modeled at our current run rate of roughly 1 container per month. Savings scale linearly if we move 2 or 3 containers per month.

Projected savings at target pricing
~$1,750 / month
vs current ATSI run rate
~$21,000 / year
at 1 container per month volume

Current Per Container (ATSI)

PHD drayage$950
ATSI transload$1,493
ATSI storage (avg month)$1,275
Total$3,718

Target Per Container (New Yard)

PHD drayage$950
New transload (open at)$750
Storage (14 free + ~$10/day)~$160 max, often $0
Total~$1,860
Volume Scenario Current Monthly Target Monthly Monthly Savings Annual Savings
1 container / month~$3,718~$1,860$1,858~$22,300
2 containers / month~$7,436~$3,720$3,716~$44,600
3 containers / month~$11,154~$5,580$5,574~$66,900
Conservative case uses target $750 transload + $0 to $160 storage. If we settle at the walk-away ($1,200 transload), savings drop to roughly $1,200 to $1,400 per container per month, still meaningful.
